Volleyball Split Two Five-Set Matches

Anderson, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team finished the 2013 season with a seven-win improvement and had its most wins since 2005 after splitting a pair of five-set matches at Anderson University on Saturday. The Grizzlies lost to the host Ravens before defeating Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Grizzlies ended the season with a 15-15 record, including two wins in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

Against Anderson, sophomore Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) and junior Jordan Finke (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) led the team with each having 11 kills. Sophomore Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) had 10 kills, while sophomore Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) tallied seven kills.

Sophomore Kasey King (Holton, Ind./South Ripley) led the team with 37 assists.

Defensively, Brown had a team-high 34 digs, while sophomore Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) recorded 29 digs. King added 30 digs, while sophomore Paige Clark (Jefferson, Ohio/Jefferson Area) had 25 digs.

In the victory against Ohio Wesleyan, Finke had 18 kills and Settled added 14 kills. Young rounded out the attack with 10 kills.

King once again helped spread the offense with 53 assists.

Wieneke led the Grizzlies with 40 digs, while Brown recorded 36 digs.
