Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team recorded its 14th victory of the season in sweeping IU-Northwest 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-12) on Saturday inside the Spurlock Center. The Grizzlies fell in straight sets to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) foe the College of Mount St. Joseph earlier in the afternoon.
Franklin (14-13, 2-5 HCAC) had a balanced offensive attack against IU-Northwest with three players recording six or more kills. Freshman Dena Dunn (Nashville, Ind./Brown County) had a career-high seven kills. Junior Jordan Finke (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) and sophomore Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) each added six kills.
Sophomore Kasey King (Holton, Ind./South Ripley) had a season-best 22 assists to help distribute the offensive attack.
Against Mount St. Joseph, the Grizzlies fell in three tight sets (26-24, 25-17, 25-19). The hosts had two sets points during the opening frame. Young led the offensive attack with eight kills. Sophomore Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) added five kills.
Wieneke led the defensive effort with a team-high 23 digs. Brown recorded nine digs.
King had 16 assists and seven digs in the match.
Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the program's annual Dig Pink game from the Spurlock Center.
