Volleyball Ends Road Swing with Loss at Hanover

Hanover, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team ended its three-match road swing with a 3-0 loss to Hanover College in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Wednesday.

Franklin (13-12, 2-4 HCAC) lost the opening set 25-13, but narrowly dropped the second set 25-22. Hanover (13-13, 4-2 HCAC) completed the sweep with a 25-15 victory in the third set.

Sophomore Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) led the team with seven kills. Fellow sophomore Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) added six kills.

Defensively, sophomore Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) led the team with 21 digs. She led three players with double-digit digs in the match. Sophomore Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) recorded 13 digs and sophomore Kasey King (Holton, Ind./South Ripley) added 11 digs. King had a team-high 16 assists.

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, October 26 for a pair of home matches. The team hosts the College of Mount St. Joseph at 1 p.m. before facing IU-Northwest at 5 p.m. from the Spurlock Center.
