Defiance, Ohio - Franklin College sophomore Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) had a team-high eight kills to lead the volleyball team in a 3-0 loss (25-11, 25-11, 25-21) at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) leading Defiance College on Friday afternoon.
Franklin (13-11, 2-3 HCAC) fell behind early in the first and second sets in losing by 25-11 scores. The team fell in a hard-fought third set 25-21 as Defiance (18-5, 5-0 HCAC) completed the three-game sweep.
Young led the Franklin offensive attack with eight kills. She also added nine digs defensively and had one service ace. Junior Jordan Finke (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) and sophomore Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) each recorded four kills.
Defensively, sophomore Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) had a team-high 12 digs. Brown added 11 digs in the contest.
Sophomore Kasey King (Holton, Ind./South Ripley) recorded 14 assists.
Franklin returns to action on Tuesday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. when it travels to Hanover College in HCAC action.
