Volleyball Loses to Transylvania in Four Sets

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team lost to second place Transylvania University 3-1 (25-13, 25-9, 18-25, 25-17) on Tuesday evening inside the Spurlock Center. The loss evened the Grizzlies' Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference record to 2-2.

Sophomore Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) led the offensive attack with eight kills. Fellow sophomore Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) recorded six kills and hit .357 for the match. Junior Montanea Daniels (Indianapolis, Ind./Providence Cristo Rey) added seven kills in the loss.

Freshman Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) helped distribute the offense with 25 assists.

Defensively, sophomore Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) led the team with 20 digs. Sophomore Paige Clark (Jefferson, Ohio/Jefferson Area) recorded 17 digs.

Franklin stands 13-9 on the season and returns to action on Wednesday, October 16 at 7 p.m. at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. The Grizzlies earned a 3-0 win over Spalding on September 25.
