Volleyball Concludes Plays in Pacific Coast Classic
Claremont, Calif. - The Franklin College volleyball team dropped its two matches on Saturday to conclude play in the Pacific Coast Classic on the Pomona-Pitzer College in Claremont, California. The Grizzlies fell in 3-0 matches to the University of California Santa Cruz and the University of the Redlands.
The team dropped a 25-18, 25-15, 25-20 match to UC Santa Cruz in Saturday's opener. Sophomore Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) led the defensive effort with 13 digs.
Franklin fell 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 against Redlands. Sophomore Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) recorded nine kills, while sophomore Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) and junior Jordan Finke (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) each added five kills in the match. Settle added seven kills against UC Santa Cruz.
Sophomore Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) led the defensive effort with 13 digs.
Fellow sophomore Jamie Bell (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) provided 12 assists.
Franklin stands 0-4 and will participate in the Earlham College Invitational from Saturday, September 7 through Sunday, September 8 in Richmond, Indiana.
