Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team picked up its second victory over Wilmington College in a five-day span, earning a 3-1 triumph in the Grizzlies home opener on Wednesday at the Spurlock Center.
Franklin recorded a 25-15, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14 victory behind a .277 team hitting percentage for the match. The team has now won four of its last five matches.
Junior Jordan Finke (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) led the offensive attack with 10 kills and a .529 hitting percentage. Sophomore Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) also added 10 kills in the victory.
Freshman Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) helped distribute the offensive attack with 36 assists. Four players tallied eight or more kills for the match.
Sophomore Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour), this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, had a game-high 18 digs. Fellow sophomore Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) recorded 15 digs.
Franklin returns to the court on Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m. when it hosts Hanover College in a non-conference match up on Faculty & Staff Night.
