Tere Haute, Ind. - Despite controlling possession and a 14-6 edge in shots the Franklin College women's soccer team lost 1-0 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Tuesday. The Grizzlies stand 8-7 on the season.
Rose-Hulman (9-3-4, 5-1 HCAC) scored five minutes into the second half on a shot from Helena Bomber.
Franklin, now 2-4 in HCAC matches, outshot the hosts 6-1 in the final 45 minutes. The Grizzlies nearly squared the match on a deflection from freshman Taylor Travis (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) in the 72nd minute. The scoring opportunity came on a corner kick from sophomore Allie Amato (Noblesville, Ind./Cathedral). The shot was one of four saves by Rose-Hulman goalkeeper Lucinda Combs.
In the last minute of the first half, Travis hit the left post on a shot from 15 yards.
Franklin returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 26 at 1 p.m. when it hosts Bluffton University in HCAC play from Faught Stadium. Live statistics of the match will be available here.
