Cincinnati, Ohio - The Franklin College women's soccer team scored once in each half and stopped all three shots on goal in earning a 2-0 road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory at the College of Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. The Grizzlies improve to 2-1 in league action.
Franklin (8-3) broke a scoreless match in the 32nd minute on freshman Audra Lane's (Washington, Ind./Washington) first career goal. The score came off a corner kick from senior Vanessa Benham (Needham, Ind./Franklin Community) – her team-leading seventh assist.
The visitors scored an insurance goal from freshman Alyssa Lund (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) in the 67th minute. The score gave the Grizzlies the winning 2-0 margin.
Junior Kayla Dragstrem (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) and Benham led the team with two shots each.
Freshman goalkeeper Kelsie Williams (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) made three saves in recording the shutout.
The Grizzlies have scored two or more goals in eight of their last nine matches.
