Women’s Basketball Ends Season with Semifinal Loss to Hanover
Lexington, Ky. - Hanover College shot 54 percent and made 12 three-point field goals in advancing to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament title game with a 92-83 victory over the Franklin College women's basketball team on Saturday from Transylvania University.
Franklin ends the 2013-14 season with a 14-13 record, marking the program's sixth consecutive winning season.
Junior Lindsey Dall (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) led the Grizzlies with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Lexi Ingram (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) scored a career-high 17 points and made five three-point field goals.
Hanover (17-9) got 22 points each from Jessie Davidson and Alicia Hopkins. The Panthers led 53-39 at halftime behind 67 percent shooting.
Franklin cut the deficit to 59-50 with 14:59 left after a layup from sophomore Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli). The Grizzlies trailed 63-57 following a three pointer by Dall at the 13:09 mark.
A three pointer from Ingram trimmed the margin to three points, 63-60, with 12:04 remaining.
However, an 11-1 run for Hanover over the next four minutes pushed the lead to 13 points, 74-61, at the 8:30 mark. Franklin got as close as eight points, 82-74, after another three pointer by Ingram with 4:32 left.
Saturday's game concluded the career of senior Krista Schott (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian).
