Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball team seeks to extend its winning streak to four games when it battles Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) co-leader Manchester University on Thursday, January 9 at 7:30 p.m. in North Manchester, Ind.
The game was postponed to Thursday due to this week's winter weather.
The Grizzlies used a late run to defeat Earlham College, 67-56, last Saturday. The victory improved the team to 3-1 in HCAC play and 5-6 overall for the season.
Franklin's three-game winning streak has also included victories over the College of Mount St. Joseph, 86-70 on December 14, and Alma College, 89-59 on December 20.
Individually, sophomore Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) leads the team by averaging 13.3 points per game. The forward also tops on the team with 7.5 rebounds per contest and 29 blocks. She is coming off a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Earlham, while also adding six blocked shots in the victory.
Freshman Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) has made a team-high 19 three-point field goals on the season. She ranks second on the team in scoring at 9.7 points per outing. Junior Lindsey Dall (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) improved her scoring output to 9.5 points after collecting 16 points against Earlham.
Junior Nichole Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) is averaging 10.1 points per contest this season.
Franklin is shooting 44 percent from the floor this season and has made 34 percent of its three-point field goal attempts.
Manchester is tied with Transylvania University atop the HCAC with a 4-0 league record. The Spartans stands 7-4 on the season and has won six of their last seven games. Manchester is coming off an 83-46 home win over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. Erynn Meideljohn leads the team with 11.7 points per game, including 19 points per HCAC contest. Katie Arterburn is averaging 9.4 points per outing.
