Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College softball team will open its 2014 home schedule with a doubleheader against DePauw University on Tuesday, March 11, starting at 3:30 p.m. from the Grizzly Park softball complex.
The Grizzlies stand 6-2 on the season after opening the season at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida from March 1-4. Last Saturday's home doubleheader against Ohio Christian University was canceled because of unplayable field conditions.
The games with DePauw were moved ahead in the schedule from Thursday afternoon due to another round of winter weather being forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
Franklin has relied on an offense that is batting .313, with eight players batting .304 or better through the first eight games of the season. Five players have recorded seven or more hits so far this spring.
Sophomore Katie Struewing (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) was last week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week after batting .474 with seven runs scored.
