Men’s Soccer Ends Season with Loss to Anderson

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team ended the 2013 season in a 2-0 home loss to Anderson University in Heartland College Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Saturday at Faught Stadium. The Ravens scored once in each half to pick up the victory.

Franklin (4-11-2, 2-7 HCAC) held a 24-11 shot edge, including a 15-4 margin in the first 45 minutes.

However, Anderson (10-9, 6-3 HCAC) made its chances count as Brady Marsh converted a deflections off a Todd Canal pass in the 15th minute. Canal gave the visitors an insurance goal in the 79th minute on a shot from 10 yards.

Franklin sophomore Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) had a game-high 11 shots, including four shots on goal. Senior Chad Parrett (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) and junior Brandon Iaria (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) each recorded four shots.

Saturday's match marked the final collegiate match for senior goalkeeper Lucas Hill (Culver, Ind./Plymouth), forward William Hilgendorf (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central), defenders Drew Hutchens (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis), Taylor Ferguson (Louisville, Ky./Whitefield Academy) and Blake Bowers (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central), midfielder David Laston (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) and Parrett.
