Men’s Soccer Battles to 1-1 Draw at Centre

Danville, Ky. - The Franklin College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Centre College, a regionally ranked opponent last season, to open play at the Centre Invitational on Friday.

Senior Drew Hutchens (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) provided the scoring for the Grizzlies (0-2-1) in the 22nd minute after an assist from fellow senior Chad Parrett (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis).

Senior Lucas Hill (Culver, Ind./Plymouth) made six saves in the match, including five in the second half.

Centre's (1-1-1) Cameron Miller found the back of the net in the seventh minute.

Four of Franklin's eight shots came in the two 10-minute overtime periods. Sophomore Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and Parrett tied for team-high honors with two shots each. Junior Brandon Iaria (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport), sophomore Frank Austin Davis (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and senior William Hilgendorf (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) also had one shot.

The Grizzlies return to the pitch on Saturday, September 7 against Spalding University at 5:30 p.m.
