Danville, Ky. - The Franklin College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime match to Spalding University (Kentucky) on Saturday to conclude action in the Centre Invitational in Danville, Kentucky.
Spalding's Abdullahi Abdullahi scored the game winner with 51 seconds remaining in the 10-minute overtime period.
Franklin's William Hilgendorf (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) scored his first goal of the season to give the Grizzlies an early lead in the 15th minute. The goal was set up from an assist from senior Chad Parrett (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis), marking the second straight match in which he has had an assist.
Spalding tied the match with a goal from Stephen Hubert in the 62nd minute.
Franklin's Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and sophomore Ian Mullen (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) each had a team-high three shots in the match. Junior Chad Parrett (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) and Hilgendorf recorded two shots apiece.
