Judge Robert D. Schafstall Recognized For Service

FRANKLIN, Ind. (Jan. 19, 2017) – The Honorable Robert D. Schafstall, a former Franklin city judge who served 40 years on the bench, was recognized for his 45 years of service to Franklin College and the Grizzlies' men's basketball program during the Jan. 18 home game against Hanover.

A Franklin College alumnus, Judge Schafstall was presented a plaque at mid-court by Franklin College President Dr. Thomas Minar, veteran HCAC official Charles "Pic" Russell and Franklin College Athletic Director and men's basketball coach Kerry Prather. The presentation was in appreciation of Judge Schafstall's selfless contributions to the school and the men's basketball team.
Judge Schafstall served as the official timer for Franklin's men's home basketball games for more than 45 years. He retired from that duty this year.
 
Throughout his five decades of service to the program, Judge Schafstall earned the respect, admiration and friendship of countless game officials, visiting coaches and players by cultivating an atmosphere of fairness and efficiency. He was a trusted partner of game officials.
