Terre Haute, Ind. - Franklin College senior Bailey Howard (Nashville, Ind./Brown County) scored 17 points after returning from injury in a 74-56 loss at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) men's basketball action on Wednesday.
Rose-Hulman (11-3, 6-1 HCAC) extended its winning streak to eight games and remained in first place in the league standings.
Jimmy Miller had 32 points in leading the hosts.
Franklin (6-8, 3-4 HCAC) trailed 15-4 in the first eight minutes of the game. However, the visitors withstood the early surge by outscoring the Fightin' Engineers 22-12 to trail by one point, 27-26, at halftime.
Howard scored nine of his 17 points in the first half and finished the game shooting 6-of-9, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
With Rose-Hulman leading 40-34 with 13:22 left, the Fightin' Engineers went on a 12-0 run over the next three minutes. The Grizzlies could not get the deficit into single digits the rest of the way.
Senior Terry Sargent (Indianapolis, Ind./Howe) added 11 points. Sophomore Trae Washington (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) scored six points and freshman Trevor Selburg (Bloomington, Ind./Edgewood) had five points off the bench.
