St. Petersburg, Fla. - The Franklin College men's basketball team lost 94-77 to NCAA Division II Eckerd College on Tuesday evening to conclude the Grizzlies' Florida trip. The loss drops the team to 3-2 on the season.
Senior Bailey Howard (Nashville, Ind./Brown County) surpassed the 30-point plateau for the third time this season. The guard scored all 30 points in the second half on three 3-point field goals and 10 total baskets.
Franklin trailed 42-19 at halftime, but outscored the hosts 58-52 in the second half. The Grizzlies shot 61.3 percent from the floor, making 19 of 31 shots after halftime.
Sophomore Trae Washington (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) added 11 points and had a team-high five assists. Senior Terry Sargent (Indianapolis, Ind./Howe) chipped in nine points, while senior Troy Porter (Frankfort, Ind./Frankfort) had eight points and led the visitors with nine rebounds.
Eckerd (2-2) was paced by Josh Snodgrass with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Malcolm Brunner Jr. had 19 points and 15 rebounds. The Tritons have won 20 or more games during each of the last three seasons and made back-to-back NCAA Division II tournament appearances.
Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. when it opens Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play at rival Hanover College.
