Linville, West Power No. 12 Football Past Rose-Hulman 64-14

Terre Haute, Ind. - The No. 12-ranked Franklin College football team scored four different ways in earning a decisive 64-14 victory at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon at Cook Stadium. The victory gives the Grizzlies sole possession of first place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC).

Franklin (5-2, 5-0 HCAC) scored through the air, on the ground, defensively and had a safety in the contest. The team has scored 50 or more points in four consecutive games.

The match up featured the remaining two undefeated HCAC teams in conference action.

Senior preseason All-American split end Kyle Linville (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) had season highs with 16 catches and 200 yards receiving. Linville caught the first two touchdowns passes on seven- and eight-yard throws from senior quarterback Jonny West (Speedway, Ind./Speedway). West, another preseason All-American, gave the visitors a 21-0 lead in the first quarter on a one-yard touchdown rush.

Junior running back Joey Pasquale (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) scored on a 12-yard carry at the 10:06 mark of the second quarter to put Franklin ahead 27-0. The Grizzlies maintained the 27-point lead until West hooked up with junior wing back Zach Cole (Middletown, Ind./Shenandoah) for a 25-yard touchdown pass on the final play of the first half. Franklin took a 34-0 into the locker room.

Franklin's defense got in the scoring act as senior linebacker Jordan Segner (Anderson, Ind./Highland) returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the second half. One minute later, West threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Cole to give Franklin a 48-0 advantage.

On Rose-Hulman's next offensive possession, Franklin's special teams forced a safety on a punt attempt from inside the end zone. West threw his fifth touchdown pass of the game, finding junior tight end Dylan Jenney (Floyd Knobs, Ind./Floyd Knobs) for a 33-yard touchdown reception at the 8:09 mark of the third quarter. Pasquale capped a 12-play, 52-yard drive with a two-yard rush in the final minute of the third quarter. The score gave Franklin a 64-0 lead.

Individuallym West ended the game throwing for 473 yards and completing 39-of-53 passes. He became the program's career leader for completions, breaking Chad Rupp's mark of 717 completions from 2005-08.

The Grizzlies amassed 578 yards of total offense. Cole recorded seven receptions for 107 yards and Pasquale also had seven catches. Pasquale led the rushing attack with 49 yards and two scores.

Defensively, senior Scott Moore (Kingman, Ind./Fountain Central) led the team with seven tackles. Sophomore Nate Bryan (Greencastle, Ind./North Putnam) made six stops and had two tackles for loss. Segner scored on an interception, marking the second-straight game the defense has scored.
