Inaugural Griz Golf Classic To Support Athletic Programs

FRANKLIN, Ind. (May 16, 2017) – Registration is underway for the inaugural Griz Golf Classic, set for Aug. 4 at Hillview Country Club in Franklin.

A fundraiser for all of Franklin College men's and women's sports teams, the scramble event will include a morning and an afternoon session. Cost is $100 per person. 

Miller Transportation, which provides exclusive charter bus service for Franklin College athletics, is the title sponsor.  Additional sponsorship opportunities are also available.

"We expect this new event to be a huge day of fun for alumni and friends of the college," Franklin's Director of Athletics Kerry Prather said. "Its purpose is to raise money for each of our Grizzly sports programs and the athletic department as a whole."

A consolidation of past sport-specific events and the former Hugh Andrews Outing, the Griz Golf Classic gives participants the opportunity to designate portions of their entry fee or sponsorships to the sport or sports of their choice.  Registration deadline is July 28.

The outing is coordinated by alumnus and former trustee Phil Powell, who successfully directed the former Hugh Andrews Outing for many years.The championship trophy for the Griz Classic displaying each year's winning team will be the Dr. Hugh Andrews Cup.
